Telegraphy, the Media, and Antislavery Politics in the 1850s

This project started as my dissertation topic but has grown to include much more than the original dissertation. It explores role telegraphy played in the development of the societies in North and South in the lead-up to the Civil War.

Hidden Town in 3D

The Hidden Town in 3-D project centered on recovering the identity enslaved individuals in the town of Salem (now Winston-Salem), North Carolina. The project utilized digital modes and methods of research to recover the identities of Africans and African Americans whose history had been overlooked or deliberately omitted.
